Supermarket chain Sainsbury’s has recently ordered 50 dual fuel trucks which will be fitted with Clean Air Power’s Genesis-EDGE system and are expected to be delivered during Q1 and early Q2 2014. Moreover, dairy products company Arla Foods plans to convert its entire fleet of vehicles to dual fuel, with the first 10 trucks running on liquefied biomethane this month.

Sainsbury’s trucks will be part of its large UK distribution fleet which already includes 49 Clean Air Power Genesis-EDGE trucks and eight methane diesel installations following orders placed during 2012 and 2013. “This is a very significant order for our system and will bring the number of Clean Air Power Dual-Fuel vehicles operating in Sainsbury’s UK fleet to over 100,” said John Pettitt, Chief Executive of Clean Air Power.

Meanwhile in Aylesbury, Arla Foods is partnering with Gasrec to develop and implement a strategy to introduce low emission Bio-LNG for its heavy goods vehicle fleet across its European operations. As part of this collaboration, Gasrec has opened a dedicated filling station at Arla’s site and will supply the biomethane to the number of trucks converted to use it.

Logistics Project Facilitator for Arla Foods Steve Wright said: “Arla is pleased to have Gasrec as a business partner; we look forward to developing our Bio-LNG refueling infrastructure at Aylesbury and are confident that Gasrec are in an ideal position to deliver.”
