2012 Indonesia-Korea NGV Cooperation Meeting was successfully finished with 18 Indonesian public officials and industry delegates from April 16 to 20. During the program, KAGNV also organized one day seminar (Apr. 18) at Montblanc Hall, 3F Liviera Hotel, Seoul.
This program was adopted as an Annex of Economic Cooperation at the 2nd Korea-ASEAN FTA meeting in Brunei Darussalam, November 2006 and MOE Korea has hosted NGV Forums and additional programs since 2008.
Delegates from State Owned Enterprises like PT. Wika, PT. Dirgantara and Indonesian state gas provider, PT. Pertamina Gas as well as Kememtarian Perindustrian (Ministry of Industry Indonesia) have participated in this program to experience NGV status of Korea and to discuss future cooperation possibility for mutual benefit.
Indonesia has abundant reserve of natural gas and is currently carrying out Oil-to-gas conversion project to diversify its energy source and to reduce metropolitan air pollution. This is a step forward to solve chronic issues caused by granting fuel subsidy to that contributes up to 20% of national budget in Indonesia. Government is initially trying CNG conversion of public transportations of approximately 250,000 within this year and if the policy expands to private sector, 2.5 million vehicles are expected to run on natural gas.
MOE Korea and KANGV think the success of Indonesia-Korea NGV Meeting will contribute to building foundation for domestic companies aiming Indonesian market and to establishing cooperation channel for the promotion of NGV in both countries.
